The reception for the joint exhibition entitled "Birth Reincarnate", by sound artist/composer Katie Holmes and visual artist Julianna Wells.

"Birth Reincarnate" is a multimedia exhibition exploring the stories of human creation through the eight main periods (excluding postmodernism) of music and art history. Each piece of artwork has a corresponding piece of music, which can be heard as you walk through the gallery. 

The exhibition is open to the public from now until April 29th, and can be found in the ArtLab Gallery in the CSU Seaboard Art Depot. Hours are 12-4pm Tuesday through Friday and 11am-4pm on Saturdays.

MusicFest Northwest is an annual celebration of Young Performing Artists held in beautiful Spokane, WA every May.

Katie participated in MusicFest many years ago and will return this year to be adjudicated in the Young Artist's section. 

As a Young Artist entrant, she will be adjudicated on one solo piece, sight reading of a piece of music chosen by the adjudicator, and performance of the required piece, the 3rd movement of the Concerto in D, Opus 99 of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

The Winner of this section is invited to perform with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra at the Young Artist Concert on Wednesday, May 14th, 2014.

Katie will also accompany her brother, Daniel, on piano during his adjudication on Trombone, playing the Galliard Sonata number 1.

Tower Day is the Annual Showcase of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship at Columbus State University.

The event runs a full day from 10am through 7:30 pm.

At the 2:30pm session in the Davidson Center, Room 254, Katie will be presenting her research on "The Patronage System of Musicians in Renaissance Italy and the Development of the Ricercar".  It will include a performance on guitar of the "Fantasia" by Francesco da Milano.

Her research was enhanced by a Study Abroad trip to Florence, Italy in March 2014.

The Chestnut Street Opry is a country and bluegrass jam session every 2nd Friday night in Montgomery. Every session they bring in a highlighted artist to play solo for a few minutes. I was invited to play in November of 2010, and I've been invited back to play again as their highlighted artist in June!

The Chestnut Street Opry accepts donations, and all proceeds from that night will be given to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
